Conformance Status

We strive for WCAG 2.1 / 2.2 Level AA conformance. As of the date above, most templates and components meet or exceed AA criteria. Some content types (e.g., historic blog posts, legacy images, third-party widgets) may not fully meet every criterion. We maintain a prioritized remediation plan.

What We’re Doing for Accessibility

• Structure: Semantic HTML with logical headings (H1–H3), lists, and landmarks (header/nav/main/footer).
• Keyboard support: Fully keyboard-navigable interface; visible focus styles and Skip to content link on major pages.
• Forms: Programmatic labels, grouped controls, descriptive error messages, and proper aria-describedby where appropriate.
• Contrast & color: Text and interactive elements target ≥ 4.5:1 (AA); we do not rely on color alone to convey meaning.
• Images & icons: Informative images use descriptive alt text; decorative images are hidden from AT.
• Responsive: Works on small screens without horizontal scrolling at 320px (except data tables that allow safe overflow).
• Timing: No time-limited interactions in the calculators; results persist until changed by the user.
• Motion: We avoid auto-playing animation; respect prefers-reduced-motion where animations exist.

Compatibility with Browsers & Assistive Technology

• Browsers: Current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
• Screen readers (tested periodically): NVDA and JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android).
• Devices: Desktop, tablet, and mobile; portrait and landscape orientations.
• Technologies relied upon: HTML, CSS, and minimal JavaScript (no Java/Flash).

Assessment & Continuous Improvement

• Manual review against WCAG success criteria (focus order, labels, headings, roles).
• Automated scans using common tools (e.g., accessibility linters, browser audits) to catch regressions.
• Keyboard-only testing and screen reader spot checks for key journeys (enter inputs → view results → follow help links).
• Change control: significant UI changes are reviewed before release; issues are tracked to resolution.

• Enter / Space: Activate buttons and toggles.
• Arrow keys: Change values in select menus where supported.
